PSG favors a high press and quick verticality through a 4-3-3. This formation is built to win the ball high up the pitch and attack the opposition lines with speed. The goal is to use a compact unit to squeeze the space and move the ball forward as fast as possible to catch the opponent out of position.

L. Chavallier starts between the posts to command the area. The back line functions as a flat back four where Z. Emery acts as a right back to provide width while Lucas H. covers the left side. In the middle, D. Upamecano (C) acts as a ball playing defender with strong aerial strength and ability to carry the ball forward. L. Beraldo plays alongside him as a covering defender to sweep behind the high line. This defensive unit works to hold a high line and keep the distance between the defenders and the midfield small.

A single pivot system controls the center of the pitch. A. Tchouaméni (C) sits in front of the defense to shield the back four and intercept passes. He acts as the main anchor to prevent central breakthroughs. Next to him, S. Mayulu and Éderson (C) operate as two inverted eights. Éderson (C) has a great passing range to help recycle possession, while S. Mayulu looks to drive forward with the ball into the half spaces. These two players connect the defense to the attack by playing through the lines.

The attack relies on three players across the front to stretch the defense. G. Ramos acts as a pressing centre-forward who fights for every ball to force a long ball from the opponent. On the flanks, D. Doué and M. Akliouche (C) operate as inverted wingers who cut inside to create chances. They pull wide to create space before moving into central areas to combine in tight spaces. This movement creates runs in behind for the midfielders to exploit.

One major strength of this PSG lineup is the ability to press high in coordinated waves. The front three and the midfield trio work together to trigger a press as soon as the ball enters their zone. Another advantage is the ability to create wide overloads. When Z. Emery or Lucas H. push up, they can overlap the winger to create two on one situations. This makes it hard for the opposition to defend the flanks.

This 4-3-3 formation is designed to dominate games through intense pressing and quick transitions. It is best suited for matches against teams that try to play out from the back under pressure.
