On the flanks, WENDELL and FERRARESI act as wide midfielders who must track back to help the center backs when out of possession. This midfield group is responsible to squeeze the space and prevent the opponent from playing through the center.

The attack is heavily populated with four players focused on penetration. FERREIRA and CÉDRIC act as wide attackers who spread wide to stretch the defense. Inside the box, ALVES and ANDRÉ SILVA work as a strike partnership. ALVES acts as a target man to hold up the ball, while ANDRÉ SILVA looks to make runs in behind. The forwards are expected to press from the front, forcing the opposition to play long balls that the two central defenders can contest.
