Starting Lineup

BISON · GUINDO · FERRARIS · GRUNDMANN · PELIKH · PACHECO · BEL ARBY · JAVORNIK · BRUNO · JANOVIC · RADAKOVIC

Juventus looks to dominate matches through an aggressive high press using a 4-4-2. This lineup is built to play direct football and apply pressure to the opposition back line from the very start. The goal is to win the ball back high up the pitch and strike quickly before the defence can set the offside trap.

BISON plays as the goalkeeper to anchor the defensive unit. The team operates with a flat back four where GUINDO and GRUNDMANN act as full backs to provide width. FERRARIS and PELIKH serve as the central defenders tasked to hold the line and win headers during set pieces. GUINDO and GRUNDMANN will overlap the winger to create chances while FERRARIS and PELIKH focus on covering the space behind the high line. The defensive unit works as a whole to maintain compactness and deny the turn of any oncoming attackers.

The midfield operates with a four man unit including PACHECO, BEL ARBY, JAVORNIK, and JANOVIC. BEL ARBY sits deep to shield the defence and recycle possession. PACHECO and JAVORNIK work to drive forward with the ball and connect the defensive and attacking lines. JANOVIC plays an advanced role to find the feet of the striker and play through the lines. This group works to compress the midfield and win the second ball to keep the pressure on.

Up front, the attack uses two forwards in a partnership with RADAKOVIC and BRUNO. RADAKOVIC acts as a pressing centre-forward to trigger a press from the front and pin the last defender. BRUNO plays off him to make runs in behind and exploit the space left by the opposition. They combine in tight spaces and look to receive on the half-turn to quickly switch play or hit in behind on the transition. This movement allows them to stretch the defence and isolate wide players in one on one situations.

A significant advantage of this 4-4-2 is the ability to press high in coordinated waves. Having four midfielders and two strikers close together allows Juventus to win it back high up the pitch very effectively. Additionally, the formation provides great compactness when defending in a mid-block. This makes it hard for opponents to play through the lines or find space between the players.

This 4-4-2 is a high intensity formation focused on pressing and quick transitions. It is best suited for facing teams that struggle to play out from the back under heavy pressure.
