Cardenas, the captain, operates as the right centre-back and provides leadership in the box. SEPÚLVEDA plays as the left centre-back to provide cover for the wide areas. VILLEGAS and FLORES act as attacking wing backs to provide width and support the attack. They push high to support the front three, leaving the three central defenders to defend zonally.

The midfield consists of a two-man midfield with LUNA and AGUIRRE. LUNA plays as the left central midfielder to connect the defense and the attack. AGUIRRE works alongside him to help press in a mid-block and win the second ball. These two players must cover a lot of ground to protect the space between the lines.
