Flanking him, Lm and Rm act as two inverted eights who connect the defensive line to the attack. Lm and Rm are tasked to press aggressively to win the ball high and drive forward with the ball to break the line. This midfield unit must stay compact to prevent the opponent from playing through the lines.

The attacking structure relies on a partnership of two forwards, Lw and Rw, who operate as a strike duo. Instead of hugging the touchline, these players look to occupy central spaces to pin the last defender. Lw and Rw work to press the opposition back line, triggering a press when the ball enters their zone. The wing backs, Lb and Rb, provide the width by overlapping the wingers, creating chances to whip it in or cut it back from the byline.

Real Madrid find tactical advantages through their ability to create wide overloads. When Lb and Rb push forward, they combine with Lw and Rw to overwhelm the opponent's full backs. Another strength is the compactness when defending in a mid-block, which makes it difficult for opponents to find space between the lines.
