Cruzeiro utilizes a lone striker in Gabigol to lead the line. Gabigol acts as a pressing centre-forward to disrupt the opposition build up and often holds up the ball to allow the midfield to move up the pitch. The wingers in this 4-5-1 must be ready to track back and support the full backs. The attacking movement relies on the midfielders making late runs into the box to support Gabigol. The goal is to play through the lines or use wide players to create chances in transition.
