Brazil relies on a high tempo and vertical play using a 4-4-2. This lineup is built to hit the opponent on the break and use the width of the pitch to stretch the defence. As the captain, Casemiro uses his high pressing intensity to win the ball back high up the pitch and breaks the line with his passing. Gerson and Bruno operate in the central areas to connect the defence and the attack, with Gerson driving forward to carry the ball. Matheus plays as the attacking ten, finding space in the half-spaces to play through the lines and feed the forwards.

The attack features two forwards in a partnership, Vinicius Jr. and Raphinha, who work in combination to create chaos. Vinicius Jr. plays as an inverted winger who cuts inside to use his explosive dribbling style against the defenders. Raphinha works alongside him, often pulling wide to stretch the defence or dropping deep to link up play. Both forwards press the opposition back line to force a long ball, while the team looks to hit in behind on the transition, using their runs to exploit gaps.

One major strength is the speed of transition which allows the team to move from a mid-block to an attack in seconds. Wide overloads created by the movement of Yan Couto and Raphinha force the opposition to overcommit on the flanks. Furthermore, the midfield provides numerical superiority when Gerson and Bruno push up to support the attack, ensuring the team can control the tempo of the game.

This 4-4-2 system provides Brazil with a way to play with directness and pace. It is most effective against teams that play a high line and leave space for Vinicius Jr. to exploit.
