Goretzka joins the central trio to drive forward with the ball and make late runs into the box, while Musiala plays as an attacking ten behind the striker to find the feet of the attackers and play through the lines.

In the attacking third, the team uses three attackers to stretch the defence. Kane acts as a target man to hold up the ball and link up play between the lines. On the flanks, Wirtz and Sané operate as wide wingers who look to cut inside and create chances. This front three focuses on making runs in behind and using quick combinations to split the defence with a through ball. The movement of Wirtz and Sané creates space for Musiala to arrive late into the box.
