MARCOS ANTONIO provides balance on the left side to connect the defensive and attacking lines. This midfield group must press aggressively to win the ball back immediately and prevent the opposition from playing through the lines.

In the attacking phase, the team uses four players to stretch the defence. ALVES and ANDRÉ SILVA operate as a partnership of two forwards, often looking to combine in tight spaces or hit in behind on the transition. On the flanks, CÉDRIC and FERREIRA play as wide wingers who stay high to provide width. CÉDRIC looks to get to the byline to deliver early crosses, while FERREIRA can cut inside to create central presence. The forwards must press from the front to trigger a press and force the opposition into mistakes.

A major tactical advantage for São Paulo is the ability to create wide overloads and heavy pressure in the attacking half. By playing with such a high number of attackers, they can often isolate wide players in one on one situations.
