Theo plays as an attacking left back, pushing high to provide width while the rest of the unit holds a compact shape to protect against long balls.

The midfield is built around a three-man midfield with a carrier in Youssouf Fofana. Fofana works to shield the defence and win the second ball, allowing Tijjani Reijnders to drive forward with the ball and connect the lines. Reijnders uses his passing range to find teammates and recycle possession when needed. Mastantuono plays as an attacking ten behind the striker, operating in the half-spaces to create chances and find the feet of the striker.

Milan uses three attackers across the front to stretch the defence. Rafa Leao plays as an inverted winger on the left, cutting inside to use his dribbling style and create chaos. Pulisic operates on the right wing, looking to get to the byline and deliver early crosses. Santiago Gimenez acts as a pressing centre-forward, holding up the ball and making runs in behind to pin the last defender. The front three work to trigger a press from the front, forcing the opposition into mistakes.
