Starting Lineup

Rosario Central looks to play a very direct and high tempo style of football using a 4-2-4 formation. This lineup is built to stretch the opposition and use verticality to hit the back line as quickly as possible. By pushing players high up the pitch, Rosario Central intends to stay in the final third and force errors from the opposition defense.

Werner starts between the posts to organize the back line. The defensive unit operates as a flat back four where Giménez and Mallo act as the two central defenders. Mallo is expected to be dominant in the air, while Giménez provides cover when the team plays a high line. On the flanks, Elordi and Giménez act as full backs. Elordi will look to push up the pitch to support the attack, whereas Giménez must balance his duties by tracking back to prevent counters.

The midfield consists of a double pivot made up of Ortíz and O'Connor. These two players work to control the center of the pitch and shield the defense. Ortíz often acts as the carrier to drive forward with the ball, while O'Connor looks to recycle possession and connect the defensive unit to the front four. They must be prepared to press aggressively to win the ball back high up the pitch to keep the pressure on.

In the attacking third, the team uses four players to pin the last defender. Segovia and Ferreira act as a partnership of two forwards, with Ferreira working to hold up the ball and Segovia looking to make runs in behind. Duarte and Giaccone occupy the wide areas as wingers. Giaccone tends to cut inside to create more central presence, while Duarte spreads the width to allow for crosses. This front line is designed to attack in combinations and punish teams in transition.

This formation offers several tactical advantages, particularly in terms of speed of transition.
