In the center of the pitch, a three man midfield provides the link between the back five and the two forwards. ManMan sits as a single pivot to shield the defense and break up play. Kiernan works as a central midfielder who connects the defensive and attacking lines by recycling possession. Drahawa acts as the other central midfielder, often looking to carry the ball forward and join the attack. This trio aims to press in a mid block to win the ball back and immediately look for the front two.

The attacking unit relies on a partnership of two forwards, Crimson and Buddy. They function as a pair that looks to make runs in behind the opposition defense. Instead of hugging the touchline, Crimson and Buddy work together in the central channels to create combinations. Width is provided by the overlapping runs of Tina and Apple, who aim to get to the byline and deliver crosses. When the team loses the ball, the forwards press the opposition back line to force a long ball.

One major advantage for SS Lazio is the compactness when defending in a low block. The close proximity between the five defenders and the three midfielders makes it very difficult for opponents to play through the lines.
