FCSB Football Formation
Starting Lineup
Darius · Ștefan (Joalle) · Lazăr (Rareș) · Denis · Dede (Andrei) · Eric · Rareș · George · Irinel · Daniel · Tudor (SAU Gabi)FCSB favors a high press and verticality through a 4-3-3 formation. This lineup aims to win the ball high up the pitch and use rapid transitions to catch opponents out of position. By pushing the defensive line up, the team creates more space for the midfielders to operate in the middle third.
Darius operates between the posts to command the area and sweep behind the high line. The defensive unit sits as a flat back four with Denis and Lazăr acting as the central defenders. Denis and Lazăr focus on clearing the lines and winning the header when long balls come in. Dede acts as an attacking full back to provide width on the left, while Ștefan holds the position to provide more defensive cover on the right side.
The midfield functions as a three-man midfield with a carrier and an attacking ten. Tudor plays in the hole as an attacking ten, looking to find the feet of the striker or play through the lines. Eric and Rareș work to control the tempo, with one player often dropping deep to receive from the defenders and the other driving forward to join the attack. They work to compress the midfield and ensure the team stays compact when the ball is lost.
The attacking front line consists of three players working to stretch the defence. Irinel plays as a pressing centre-forward, using his movement to pin the last defender. George and Daniel act as inverted wingers who cut inside to create goal scoring chances, which allows the full backs to overlap. This movement creates space for George and Daniel to find the half spaces or hit in behind on the transition.
FCSB gains a major advantage through the ability to press high in coordinated waves. The front three trigger a press that forces the opponent to play long balls, which the central defenders can intercept. Another strength is the numerical superiority in the wide areas when Dede and Ștefan move up to support the wingers.
This 4-3-3 formation relies on intense pressing and quick movement to break down teams. It is best suited for matches against opponents who struggle to play out from the back under heavy pressure.
