Starting Lineup

Chamo · Musa · Grema G · Helamoda · Bulkatuwa · Mantoski · Wandiyahel · Sammy spark · Jeddy killer · Daniel · A-Waz

Girona plays with a high press and a desire to control the game using a 4-3-3. The team wants to win the ball high up the pitch and move it quickly to the front three to catch the opposition out of position. This lineup is built to play a vertical style of football that keeps the opposition under constant pressure through high energy and quick ball movement.

A-Waz stays between the posts to play out from the back. The back four functions as a high line to squeeze the space and keep the pitch small. Musa and Grema G are the central defenders, with Musa playing a covering role while Grema G holds the line. Chamo and Helamoda act as attacking full backs, pushing high to overlap the winger and provide width when the team is in possession.

The midfield relies on a three-man midfield with a carrier to move the ball forward. Jeddy killer occupies the central role to shield the defence and recycle possession. Daniel and Sammy spark play as the two more advanced midfielders. Driving forward with the ball, Daniel aims to break the line, while Sammy spark presses aggressively to win the ball back high up the pitch. This group links the defence to the attacking line by progressing through the thirds.

The attack features three attackers across the front. Mantoski acts as a lone striker to hold up the ball and engage in link up play with the other forwards. Bulkatuwa and Wandiyahel play as inverted wingers who cut inside to create central presence and isolate wide players. This movement allows Chamo and Helamoda to push up and get to the byline. The forwards press from the front to force a long ball from the opposition.

One major advantage for Girona is the ability to create wide overloads from overlapping full backs. The team also gains numerical superiority in midfield when Daniel and Sammy spark push up. This allows them to press in pairs and win the second ball effectively. The formation makes it hard for opponents to play through the lines or find space between the units.

This 4-3-3 is built for aggressive pressing and fast transitions. It is most effective for Girona against teams that struggle to play short from the back or cannot handle a high line.
