Starting Lineup

Broun · Sandez · Coronel · Quintana · Komar · Navarro · Segovia · Santi López · Ferreira · Di Maria · Alliendro

Rosario Central looks to win the ball back high up the pitch and strike on the transition using a 5-2-3. This formation is built to play with a heavy emphasis on verticality and rapid movement once possession is regained. The lineup allows the team to sit deep in a compact block and then explode forward through wide channels.

Broun starts between the posts to organize the defensive unit. The back line functions as a back five with Navarro acting as the central anchor to hold the line. To his sides, Komar and Quintana provide cover, with Komar using his aerial strength to win headers in the box. Sandez and Coronel play as attacking wing backs, pushing high to provide width while the central defenders drop back to cover the space behind them.

The midfield operates with a double pivot to manage the central area. Segovia and Alliendro work together to control the tempo and recycle possession. Alliendro acts as a carrier to drive forward with the ball, while Segovia focuses on protecting the defensive line and picking up runners from deep. This pair must work hard to press in a mid-block and stop opponents from playing through the lines.

In the final third, Rosario Central utilizes three attackers to stretch the defence. Ferreira operates as a lone striker to hold up the ball and find the feet of his teammates. Di Maria plays as an inverted winger on the right to cut inside and create chances, while Santi López stays wide on the left to pull defenders apart. The movement of these three is designed to create runs in behind and isolate defenders in one on one situations.

This formation offers specific tactical advantages for Rosario Central. The team creates wide overloads when Sandez and Coronel overlap the wingers to overwhelm the opposition full backs. They also benefit from extreme compactness when defending in a low block, making it very hard for opponents to find space between the lines. The speed of transition from the double pivot to the front three allows for quick breaks.

The 5-2-3 setup provides a heavy defensive foundation while maintaining a lethal threat on the break. It is best suited for games against dominant teams where sitting deep and hitting on the transition is required.
