Daegu aims to play with a high intensity and verticality using a 4-2-4 formation. This lineup is built to attack the opposition quickly and use the width of the pitch to create chances. The primary goal is to stretch the defence and hit the opponent on the transition before they can get organized.

In the defensive phase, the GK sits between the posts to command the area. The back line operates as a flat back four with the RB and LB providing the width while the RCB and LCB focus on defending the central zone. The RCB and LCB need to stay compact to cover the space behind the midfield, often stepping up to catch opponents offside. While the full backs might push forward, they must track back quickly to defend against counter attacks. The whole defensive unit must stay connected to avoid leaving gaps between the lines.

The midfield operates as a double pivot consisting of the LCM and RCM. These two players must work hard to shield the defence and protect the center of the pitch. The LCM often acts as a carrier to move the ball from the back to the front, while the RCM focuses on winning the second ball and recycling possession. They are responsible for connecting the defensive unit to the front four, often having to cover large areas of the pitch. This duo must press in a mid-block to force the opponent into mistakes.

The attack is highly aggressive with four players positioned high up the pitch. The RW and LW act as wide wingers who look to hug the touchline and spread the play wide. In the central areas, the AMF operates as an attacking ten behind the two forwards. The CF and the other CF work as a partnership to pin the last defender and provide a presence in the box. The RW and LW often look to cut inside to create space for the full backs to overlap. This front line is designed to create runs in behind and isolate defenders in one on one situations.

This formation offers several tactical advantages for Daegu. The team can create wide overloads by using the full backs to support the RW and LW. There is also a high capacity for speed of transition, allowing the team to bypass the midfield quickly. By having four attackers, Daegu can pin the opposition defence deep and create numerical superiority in the final third.

The 4-2-4 formation is a high risk, high reward system built for aggressive attacking football. It is best suited for games where Daegu needs to break down a low block or exploit a team that leaves space behind their midfield.
