The attack features osimhen as a lone striker and a pressing centre forward. He works to pin the last defender and hold up the ball to allow the midfielders to join the attack. The team builds through quick breaks where osimhen looks to hit in behind on the transition. Overlaps from james and cucurella provide crosses from the byline. The team aims to spread wide and use these wide channels to stretch the defence.

One major strength of this Chelsea lineup is the compactness when defending in a low block. The narrow positioning of the players makes it difficult for opponents to play through the lines. Another advantage is the ability to create wide overloads when james and cucurella push forward. This creates space for the midfielders to arrive late into the box.
