The attack relies on a strike partnership of Lautaro Martínez and Marcus Thuram. Lautaro Martínez operates as a pressing centre forward who works hard to harass the opposition back line and find pockets of space. Marcus Thuram provides a physical presence to hold up the ball and create room for his partner. They combine in tight spaces to play one twos and pull defenders out of position. This front line is designed to create runs in behind and exploit the space vacated by advancing defenders.

One major advantage of this Inter lineup is the numerical superiority in midfield which allows them to dominate the center of the park. The wing backs, Denzel Dumfries and Federico Dimarco, create wide overloads that force the opposition to shift constantly. This setup also allows for a very quick transition from a defensive block to a direct attack.
