Merino operates alongside him to connect the defensive and attacking lines, helping to recycle possession and protect the center. The wide midfielders, Arnold and Carreras, function as attacking wing backs. Arnold provides quality delivery from the right, while Carreras pushes up on the left to overlap the winger and provide width.

The attacking line is designed to stretch the defence using three players. Mbappé operates as a pressing centre forward, looking to find the feet of the striker or run in behind. Bellingham plays on the left as an inverted winger who will cut inside to find space in the half spaces. Paz occupies the right wing, often staying wide to pull the defender out of position.
