Inter focuses on a vertical style of play designed to strike quickly through a 3-5-2 formation. The team relies on high energy and pressing to win the ball and move forward with pace. This lineup is built to control the center of the pitch while using width to stretch the defence.

Carnesecchi plays as the goalkeeper to start the play from the back. A back three made of Bisseck, Militao, and Bastoni forms the defensive unit. Bastoni acts as a ball playing defender with a great passing range to find teammates in advanced positions. Militao provides aerial strength and covers the space when the line steps up. Bisseck works to hold the line and mark runners in the box. This back three functions as a solid block to defend zonally and protect the middle.

The central area features a three-man midfield with a carrier and two runners. Ricci and Frattesi work around Barella to connect the lines. Barella uses his high work rate to drive forward and press aggressively to win the ball high up the pitch. To shield the defence, Ricci wins the second ball to recycle possession. Frattesi makes late runs into the box to challenge for crosses. This group works to compress the midfield and deny the turn of opposition players.

The front line uses two forwards in a partnership with Lucca and Lautaro. Lautaro works as a pressing centre-forward who uses his pressing intensity to force the opposition into mistakes. Lucca acts as a partner to hold up the ball and find the feet of Lautaro. Angelino and Dumfries act as attacking wing backs to provide width. They spread wide to pull the defence apart and then look to get to the byline to deliver early balls. Combinations in tight spaces or hits in behind on the transition define their attacking movement.

Inter Milan finds success through several tactical strengths. Numerical superiority in midfield allows the team to dominate possession. Wide overloads from Angelino and Dumfries make it difficult for opponents to defend the flanks. Additionally, the team possesses a high speed of transition that catches defenders out of position.

This 3-5-2 formation is built to dominate the central areas while exploiting wide spaces. It is best suited for facing teams that play a high line or leave gaps between the lines.
