Racing Club favors a high press and quick transitions through a 3-4-3 formation. This lineup is built to play a vertical game that stretches the opposition and wins the ball high up the pitch. By using a narrow midfield and wide attackers, the team seeks to overwhelm opponents in both the middle and wide areas.
G. Arias plays behind a back three that functions as a cohesive unit. S. Sosa sits in the center as the main defender to win the header and clear the lines. To his left, V. Gómez acts as a ball playing defender to help play short from the back. M. Di Cesare completes the back three on the right, ready to cover the space when the wide players push up. This defensive block can shift into a back five when the team is out of possession to stay compact.
The midfield operates with two central players who drive the play. J. Nardoni and Almendra occupy the central spaces to control the tempo and connect the defensive and attacking lines. Almendra works to win the second ball and recycle possession to keep the pressure on. The wide midfielders, Martirena and G. Rojas, act as wing backs to provide width. They are tasked to overlap the winger and help the team spread wide during the build up.
Racing Club utilizes three attackers to pin the last defender. A. Martínez acts as a pressing centre-forward to force a long ball from the opposition. He works closely with L. Vietto and M. Ojeda to create combinations in tight spaces. L. Vietto and M. Ojeda often cut inside to find the feet of the striker or to arrive late into the box. This attacking trio aims to hit in behind on the transition to exploit gaps in the opponent defensive line.
One major advantage for Racing Club is the ability to create wide overloads from the wing backs. When Martirena and G. Rojas push up, they create space for the wingers to occupy central roles. The team also benefits from numerical superiority in midfield when the wingers and central midfielders combine to press in pairs. This makes it very difficult for opponents to play out from the back without losing possession.
This 3-4-3 formation is a high intensity setup designed to dominate through aggression and width. It is best suited for games where the team needs to break down a low block or catch an opponent on the counter at pace.
