Starting Lineup

Júnior · Gerald · Fabricio · Jairo · jefry · Aníbal · sven · Elías · Isaías · geovanny · Irvin

PSG relies on a heavy defensive presence and quick transitions through a 5-3-2 formation. This lineup is built to sit deep and absorb pressure before hitting opponents on the break. The intention is to stay compact in the middle and use the wing backs to provide all the width during an attack.

Júnior operates between the posts to command the area. The defensive unit functions as a back three with Aníbal acting as the central man to hold the line and cover the space behind his partners. Fabricio plays as the right center back while Gerald holds the left side, both focusing on winning the second ball and clearing the lines. Ahead of them, Jairo and jefry act as attacking wing backs who provide the width. Jairo pushes high up the right flank to stretch the defence while jefry covers the left. This unit aims to keep a narrow defensive block when the opposition has the ball.

The midfield consists of a three-man midfield with a carrier to link the play. Elías sits in the center to shield the defence and recycle possession. Beside him, sven and Isaías operate in the half spaces to press aggressively and win the ball back high up the pitch when possible. These players must work hard to compress the midfield and ensure no space opens between the lines. They connect the defensive trio to the front two by playing short from the back and moving the ball quickly through the thirds.

PSG uses two forwards in a partnership to lead the line. geovanny and Irvin work together to press the opposition back line and force a long ball. Instead of wingers hugging the touchline, the team relies on Jairo and jefry to overlap the winger and provide crosses. The two attackers often combine in tight spaces to pull the defenders out of position. Their main job is to run in behind the defensive line or hold up the ball to allow the midfield to push forward.

This formation offers great compactness when defending by leaving little room in the central areas. The wing backs Jairo and jefry provide wide overloads that can catch opponents off guard during a transition. By having a solid back three, the team can also use the speed of transition to move from a low block to a direct attack very quickly.

The 5-3-2 lineup is a resilient system designed to soak up pressure and strike with precision. It is best suited for matches against teams that dominate possession and leave space behind their high defensive line.
