Starting Lineup

PSG aims to dominate through high pressing and rapid transitions using a 5-2-3 formation. This lineup is built to win the ball high up the pitch and exploit gaps in the opposition defense with speed. The team relies on aggressive movement to stretch the defense and create chances in the final third.

Marky sits between the posts to organize the defensive unit. The back line functions as a narrow defensive block with Zealous acting as the central defender to sweep behind the others. BQ and Flack sit on either side of Zealous to defend the central zone, while Walker and Carlos act as attacking wing backs to provide width. Walker pushes up the right flank to overlap, while Carlos moves forward on the left to support the attack. This system allows the defenders to drop into a low block if needed or step up to squeeze the space.

The midfield consists of a two man unit with Woodsy and Krazzy. Woodsy and Krazzy work together to protect the central zone and connect the defense to the attack. Krazzy focuses on pressing aggressively to win the ball high, while Woodsy stays deeper to shield the defense and recycle possession. They must work hard to cover the gaps left by the wing backs when they push forward. The two midfielders are responsible for winning the second ball and quickly finding the front three during a transition.

In the attacking third, PSG uses three attackers to pin the opposition back line. Norton plays as a pressing centre-forward to harass the defenders and hold up the ball. Fiz operates as an inverted winger on the left, looking to cut inside and create space. Sezca plays on the right side to stretch the play and provide width. The front three work in combinations to create runs in behind or deliver crosses from the wide areas. They press in pairs to force the opposition into mistakes.

One major advantage of this formation is the ability to create wide overloads from the overlapping runs of Walker and Carlos. The team also benefits from a strong ability to press high in coordinated waves, making it difficult for opponents to play out from the back. The central trio of Fiz, Norton, and Sezca provides enough presence to win the second ball in the attacking half.

This formation provides a strong foundation for a team that wants to use wing backs to control the flanks. It is best suited for matches against teams that play a narrow midfield and can be exploited on the break.
