Starting Lineup

ADI · DENIS · BABANG · RIZKY · KAKA · DAFFA · RIO · FAISAL · ALFADZ · ALIF · RAZA

Persib aims to play with a direct and high pressing identity, utilizing a 5-2-3 formation. This lineup is built to win the ball high up the pitch and strike quickly once the turnover happens. The team uses the extra defenders to create a solid base while the front three look to pin the opposition back.

In goal, ADI holds the line to organize the defensive unit. The back line functions as a back three with RIO acting as the central anchor to sweep behind the line. BABANG operates as the right centre-back to cover the wide areas, while RIZKY plays as the left centre-back to defend the zone. DENIS and KAKA act as attacking wing backs, pushing high to provide width and support the attack. This system allows the defenders to shift as a unit, ensuring they stay compact when they drop into a low block.

The midfield consists of a double pivot with DAFFA and FAISAL working to control the center of the pitch. DAFFA acts as a carrier to move the ball forward, while FAISAL looks to intercept passes and win the second ball. These two must work hard to cover the space between the midfield and the defensive line. They serve as the main connection to move the ball from the back three to the attacking front three.

Persib employs three attackers across the front to stretch the defence. RAZA plays as a lone striker, acting as a target man to hold up the ball and bring others into play. ALFADZ and ALIF operate as wide wingers, with ALFADZ hugging the touchline and ALIF looking to cut inside. They aim to create space for the wing backs to overlap and provide crosses into the box. The front three press from the front to force a long ball from the opposition.

This formation offers several tactical advantages, such as the ability to create wide overloads when DENIS and KAKA push forward. The presence of three central defenders provides security against counter attacks and allows the team to remain compact when defending. Having three attackers also allows Persib to pin the last defender and create space for late runs from the midfield.

The 5-2-3 formation relies on high intensity and quick transitions to catch opponents out of position. It is best suited for games where the team needs to defend deep and strike on the break.
