Persib Football Formation
Starting Lineup
ADI · DENIS · BABANG · RIZKY · KAKA · DAFFA · RIO · FAISAL · ALFADZ · ALIF · RAZAPersib aims to play with a heavy emphasis on defensive stability and quick transitions, utilizing a 5-2-3 formation. This lineup is built to sit in a compact block and strike rapidly once the ball is won. The tactical intent is to deny space between the lines while maintaining enough numbers forward to punish opponents on the break.
In goal, ADI acts as the last line of defense. The back line consists of a back five that can shift effectively. RIO sits in the center as the main anchor, while RIZKY and BABANG act as the wide center backs to provide cover. DENIS and KAKA operate as attacking wing backs, tasked with providing width and covering the entire flank. These players must track back quickly to prevent crosses, while the central trio of RIO, RIZKY, and BABANG focuses on defending zonally and winning the second ball.
The midfield relies on a double pivot to control the center of the pitch. DAFFA and FAISAL form this pairing, tasked with shielding the defense and recycling possession. DAFFA works to intercept passes and disrupt the opposition, while FAISAL looks to carry the ball forward to link the defense with the attack. This duo must stay close together to compress the midfield and ensure the team is not bypassed easily through the center.
The attacking front line uses three attackers to stretch the opposition defense. RAZA leads the line as a lone striker, tasked with holding up the ball and pinning the last defender. On the wings, ALFADZ and ALIF act as wide wingers who hug the touchline to create space in the middle. This setup allows ALFADZ and ALIF to cut inside and create chances, while the wing backs DENIS and KAKA push up to overlap them. The team looks to hit in behind on the transition, using the speed of the front three to exploit high lines.
Persib gains a significant advantage through the width provided by DENIS and KAKA, which creates wide overloads. The formation also offers immense compactness when defending, making it very difficult for opponents to play through the central zones. By using a back five, the team can effectively shift to a mid-block that forces the opposition to play wide and cross the ball.
This 5-2-3 formation is a robust way for Persib to stay solid against heavy attacking sides. It is best suited for games where the team needs to absorb pressure and strike with speed on the break.
