Starting Lineup

DI CESARE · ARIAS · SOSA · COLOMBO · MARTIRENA · NARDONI · SANCHEZ · ROJAS · VIETTO · MARTINEZ · SALAS

Racing Club operates with a heavy emphasis on a high press and rapid transitions through a 3-5-2 formation. This lineup is built to squeeze the pitch and win the ball high up the pitch to catch the opposition off guard. The team relies on intensity and verticality to move from a defensive block to a scoring position in seconds.

In goal, ARIAS protects the net while acting as the first point of distribution. The back line consists of a three man unit featuring SOSA, COLOMBO, and DI CESARE. SOSA acts as the central figure to organize the line and win the header when crosses come in. COLOMBO and DI CESARE provide cover and are ready to step up to intercept passes or mark a target striker. This unit maintains a compact shape to deny the turn and force the opposition wide.

The midfield operates with a five man engine to control the center of the pitch. NARDONI and SANCHEZ form a central pair to shield the defense and win the second ball. NARDONI works to drive forward with the ball and connect the lines, while SANCHEZ provides stability and works to pick up runners. ROJAS and MARTIRENA act as wing backs to provide width, with ROJAS covering the left flank and MARTIRENA stretching the defense on the right. VIETTO plays as an attacking ten behind the strikers to link play and arrive late into the box.

Racing Club utilizes two forwards in a partnership to pin the last defender. SALAS and MARTINEZ work together to press the opposition back line and create space. The two strikers often combine in tight spaces to pull defenders out of position. When the wing backs push high, SALAS and MARTINEZ can drop slightly to help the midfield or run in behind to exploit gaps. The attack is designed to create cutbacks from the byline and quick one-two combinations.

This formation provides significant tactical advantages through central dominance and width. The presence of NARDONI and SANCHEZ allows for numerical superiority in the middle of the park, making it hard for opponents to play through the lines. Additionally, the wing backs ROJAS and MARTIRENA create wide overloads, forcing the opposition to defend much larger areas of the pitch. The ability to transition quickly with VIETTO feeding the strikers makes them a threat on the break.

This 3-5-2 formation is built for a team that wants to dominate the ball and press aggressively. It is best suited for matches against opponents who struggle to play out from the back under intense pressure.
