PSG aims to play with a heavy verticality and a high press using a 4-2-4. This formation is built to overwhelm the opposition through rapid transitions and a heavy presence in the final third. By keeping many players high up the pitch, Paris Saint-Germain looks to win the ball back high up the pitch and strike before the defense can settle.

Eyxd sits between the posts to command his area. The back line operates as a flat back four with Sunlord acting as an attacking full back to provide width on the right. Fergal covers the left flank, while Tekky and Mini operate as the central pair. Tekky acts as a ball playing defender to start attacks, while Mini is tasked to cover the space behind the high line if the team is caught on the break. The defensive unit must remain compact to prevent being bypassed through the middle.

The midfield relies on a double pivot to hold the center of the pitch. Cas and Josh work to protect the back four, with Cas acting as the primary shield to intercept passes. Josh is tasked to carry the ball forward and connect the defensive unit to the front line. This two man midfield must be disciplined to avoid being overrun by opponents playing with a three man midfield. They focus on winning the second ball and quickly moving the ball to the attackers.

The attack is highly aggressive, utilizing two forwards in a partnership with Eerie and Jmz leading the line. Marcus and Rolex play as wide wingers who hug the touchline to stretch the defence. This creates space in the channels for Eerie and Jmz to make runs in behind. The forwards are expected to press from the front to force a long ball from the opposition. When the team wins possession, the wingers look to cut inside or deliver crosses into the box to find the two central strikers.

One major advantage for PSG is the ability to create wide overloads when Sunlord and Fergal push up to support Marcus and Rolex. The formation also allows for high pressing in coordinated waves, making it difficult for opponents to build play from the back. By pinning the last defender with the two central strikers, the team creates numerous opportunities for the wingers to isolate defenders in one on one situations.

This 4-2-4 lineup is a high risk, high reward system designed to dominate through sheer attacking volume. It is best suited for games where PSG needs to break down a low block or exploit an opponent that plays with a high defensive line.
