Starting Lineup

Czechia relies on a high press and rapid transitions within a 5-2-3 formation. This lineup aims to win the ball high up the pitch and exploit spaces behind the opposition defense through quick vertical play. Schrojf guards the goal as the last line of defense. The defensive unit operates with a back five that can shift depending on the phase of play. Popluhár, Pluskal, and Masopust form a central trio where Pluskal and Masopust act as the wider center backs to cover the flanks. Popluhár sits in the middle to anchor the line and win headers. Lalá and Novák act as attacking wing backs, pushing high to provide width and support the attack. They must track back quickly to defend against wide runners and maintain the integrity of the back five.

The midfield consists of a double pivot comprising Adamec and Scherer. These two players work to control the center of the pitch and link the defense to the front line. Adamec drives forward with the ball to break the lines, while Scherer helps to shield the defense and recycle possession. They must stay close together to prevent the opposition from playing through the center. When the team loses the ball, they work to press in a mid-block to force a long ball.

In the attacking phase, Czechia utilizes three attackers across the front. Kvašňák acts as a pressing centre-forward to harass the opposition back line and hold up the ball for others. Jelínek and Štibrányi play as wide wingers who look to cut inside and create goal scoring chances. They often look to receive the ball in the half spaces or make runs in behind. The wingers and wing backs often combine to create overloads on the flanks, allowing for crosses into the box for Kvašňák.
