Starting Lineup

Czechia looks to dominate through a high press and quick vertical transitions using a 3-4-3. This formation is built to squeeze the pitch and use wide players to stretch the opposition. Schrojf starts between the posts to command the area. The back line consists of a back three where Popluhár sits in the middle to command the defense. Tichý acts as the right centre back to cover the space and win the second ball, while Novák operates as the left centre back. This unit stays compact to protect the middle and can step up to catch opponents offside. They maintain a high line to keep the distance between the defense and midfield short.

The midfield operates with two central players in a double pivot. Pluskal and Masopust work to control the center of the pitch and shield the defense. Pluskal is tasked to intercept passes and break the play, while Masopust helps to recycle possession and connect the defense to the attack. Scherer and Kadraba play in the half spaces as attacking midfielders to provide more bodies in the final third. They help to press in a mid-block and are ready to carry the ball forward when space opens up.

In the attacking third, Czechia uses three attackers to pin the last defender. Kvašňák plays as the lone striker and focuses on finding the feet of the striker and hold up the ball to bring others into play. Jelínek and Pospíchal act as wide wingers who cut inside to create goal scoring chances. They look to isolate a one on one wide or deliver early crosses into the box. This attacking unit works together to press from the front and force a long ball from the opposition.
