Hajduk operates with a heavy focus on offensive pressure and overwhelming numbers in the attacking third through a 2-5-3 formation. This lineup is built to dominate the middle of the pitch and pin the opposition deep into their own half. By committing many players forward, Hajduk looks to control the tempo and force errors through constant pressure.

In goal, Beara-Vukčević-Katalinić acts as the last line of defense. The defensive unit is unusual, relying on a tight central block consisting of Buljan, Peruzović, and Rožić along with Cuzzi, Holcer, and Primorac. These players must maintain high concentration to cover the massive spaces left behind when the team pushes up. The central defenders act as a compact wall, tasked to intercept long balls and win the second ball immediately.

The midfield is a massive engine room designed to control every zone. A group of players including Broketa, Ristić, and Miljuš works alongside Kokeza, Džoni, and Boljat to manage the central areas. Further up, Žanetić, Hlevnjak, and Mužinić provide the link between the deep players and the forwards. Jerković, Šalov, and Pešić operate in the left half-spaces, while Jovanić, Oblak, and Slišković occupy the right. This heavy midfield presence allows the team to recycle possession and drive forward with the ball through the center.

The attacking front line is designed to stretch the defense and create chaos. Vukas, Šurjak, and Đorđević push from the left, while Žungul, Zl. i Zo.Vujović occupy the right flank. In the center, Matošić, Nadoveza, and Bokšić act as a potent trio of forwards. These players use combinations to find gaps, with wide players pulling wide to create space for the central strikers to run in behind. The forward line stays high to trigger a press and prevent the opposition from building out from the back.

One major advantage for Hajduk is the massive numerical superiority in the middle of the pitch. This density allows them to win it back high up the pitch and immediately look to break the line with a pass. Another strength is the ability to create wide overloads, as the many midfielders can shift to support the wingers. This makes it very difficult for a standard back four to track all the runners.

This 2-5-3 formation is a high risk, high reward system centered on total dominance. It is best suited for games where Hajduk needs to break down a team sitting deep in a low block.
