Vitinha uses his passing range to drive forward with the ball and recycle possession, while F. Ruiz helps to shield the defence and pick up runners. Hakimi and N. Mendes act as wing backs to provide width. Hakimi likes to overlap the winger to reach the byline, while N. Mendes is tasked to track back and cover the flank when the team loses possession.

On the flanks, Dembélé and Kvaratskhelia play as inverted wingers who cut inside to threaten the goal. Dembélé uses his dribbling style to beat his man in one-on-one situations, while Kvaratskhelia tries to receive on the half-turn to play through the lines. This movement creates space for Hakimi and N. Mendes to whip it in or deliver early crosses.

One major advantage is the ability to create wide overloads using the wing backs to pin the last defender. The midfield pairing of Vitinha and F.
