Kazakhstan aims to be defensively solid and play with high discipline using a 5-4-1. This formation is built to sit deep and wait for the right moment to strike on the break. The Kazakhstan lineup focuses on compactness and making it very difficult for the opposition to find space between the lines.

In goal, x stands ready to command the area. The defensive line consists of a back three with x, x, and x. These central defenders must remain disciplined to defend zonally and win the second ball. The wide defenders, x as the RWB and x as the LWB, provide width when needed but primarily focus on tracking back to prevent crosses. This unit works as a single block to squeeze the space and deny any easy entries into the penalty area.

The midfield operates as a narrow block of four. x and x occupy the central roles to shield the defence and win the battle in the middle. x acts as a carrier to move the ball from deep areas, while x operates in the attacking midfield role to link the lines. This midfield group must press in a mid-block to force the opponent to play wide and prevent them from playing through the lines.

Up front, x operates as a lone striker. The goal for x is to hold up the ball and allow the midfield to move up the pitch. The attack relies on the movement of the AM x to support the striker and create chances in transition. When the team wins the ball, the wing backs x and x look to push up to provide width, aiming to deliver crosses or find the striker in behind.

A primary strength of this formation is the compactness when defending, which makes it hard to break down. The team can also create wide overloads when the wing backs join the attack. This allows Kazakhstan to shift between a low block and a more aggressive mid-block quickly to disrupt the opponent.

This 5-4-1 lineup is designed to absorb pressure and punish teams on the counter. It is best suited for matches against heavy possession teams where Kazakhstan can sit deep and exploit space in transition.
