Starting Lineup

Grótta focuses on a heavy defensive presence and quick transitions using a 5-3-2 formation. This lineup is built to sit deep and absorb pressure before hitting the opposition with vertical passes. The team aims to play a direct style of football that relies on strength and speed to catch opponents off guard.

Andrés works as the goalkeeper to command the penalty area. The defense operates with a back five that can shift into a narrow defensive block. KT holds the center to cover the space and win headers. Siggi H and Gummi act as the wide centre-backs to provide support when the team defends zonally. Tómas Þ and Gústi act as attacking wing backs, meaning they must track back to help the defense and also push high to provide width. This unit works together to squeeze the space and prevent through balls.

The midfield is a three man group that links the defense and attack. Biggi and TO form a central pairing to win the second ball and protect the defensive line. Biggi often works to carry the ball forward to drive the play, while TO stays deeper to recycle possession and shield the back three. One major advantage of this formation is the ability to maintain compactness when defending in a low block. Having three central defenders, including KT, makes the middle very difficult to penetrate. Another strength is the wide overloads created by Tómas Þ and Gústi as they overlap the winger. This forces the opposition to pull players out of position, creating space for Hrafn D to operate.
