River utilizes a vertical and direct identity, operating within a 5-2-3 formation. The team is built to absorb pressure and strike quickly when the opposition loses possession. This lineup allows the players to sit in a compact unit before launching rapid attacks through the center or wide areas.

Armani protects the goal with his quick reflexes and command of the area. The defense functions as a five man line that can shift to protect the flanks. Barrenechea plays in the middle to win headers and hold the line, while M. Quarta uses his passing range to start attacks from the back. P. Diaz provides cover on the left side of the central trio. Montiel and Acuña act as attacking wing backs who push high to provide width, with Montiel using his crossing ability to deliver balls into the box. They must also track back to defend against counter attacks.

The midfield relies on a double pivot to connect the defense to the attack. Castaño works to shield the back line and win the second ball, while John Arias uses his movement to carry the ball forward into the half spaces. This duo is responsible for recycling possession and finding the wingers quickly. They must stay disciplined to prevent the opposition from playing through the middle when the wing backs are high up the pitch.

In the attacking phase, River uses three players across the front to stretch the opposition. Driussi acts as the central striker to hold up the ball and find the runners. Maxi Salas and Colidio operate as wide wingers, with Maxi Salas looking to cut inside from the right and Colidio making runs from the left. This lineup is designed to create runs in behind and allow for cutbacks from the byline once the wing backs overlap.

One major strength of this formation is the ability to create wide overloads when Montiel and Acuña push forward. This creates a numerical advantage on the flanks and forces the opposition to pull defenders out of position. The speed of transition is another key advantage, as the team can move from a low block to a direct attack in seconds. This makes the team very dangerous when the opponent is caught out of position.

This 5-2-3 formation offers a very solid defensive base for River. It is most effective against teams that play with a high line and struggle to defend transitions.
