MARCHEGIANI guards the goal within a deep defensive unit. The back line consists of a back three with VÁZQUEZ acting as the central defender to sweep behind the line. CRAVERO and BENEDETTI act as the wide centre-backs, providing cover and helping to win the second ball. BRUNO and ANNONI play as attacking wing backs who provide the width, pushing high up the pitch to support the attack while tracking back to maintain a five man line when out of possession. The whole unit works to squeeze the space between the lines.

A double pivot controls the middle of the pitch to link the defence and the attack. SCIFO and VENTURIN operate as the two central midfielders, responsible for shielding the back three and winning possession. SCIFO drives forward with the ball to carry it into the middle third, while VENTURIN works to recycle possession and find the feet of the forwards. This duo must be disciplined to prevent the opposition from playing through the lines.

The attacking line uses three players to pin the last defender and create chances. CASAGRANDE acts as the lone striker, working to hold up the ball and link up play with the wide players. LENTINI and MUSSI operate as wide attackers who stay high to stretch the defence. LENTINI looks to cut inside to create goalscoring opportunities, while MUSSI stays wide to deliver crosses. These three press the opposition back line to force errors and trigger a quick break.

Torino gains a massive advantage through their ability to defend in a compact block and win the ball back high up the pitch once they intercept a pass. The wing backs, BRUNO and ANNONI, create wide overloads that force the opposition to defend much larger areas of the pitch.
