Besiktas aims to dominate through extreme verticality and aggressive pressing, utilizing a 2-5-3 formation. This lineup is built to overwhelm the opposition in the final third by sacrificing defensive numbers for sheer attacking weight. The idea is to use a high line to squeeze the space and win the ball back high up the pitch to catch teams out of position.

In the defensive unit, mert plays between the posts to organize the backline. The team operates with a very high defensive line, relying on Udokhai to act as a central defender who can cover space. Because there are only two defenders in the back, Udokhai must be ready to step up to intercept passes or track runners early. The wide players in the midfield must track back constantly to support the two central defenders and prevent long balls from being played into the channels.

The midfield is a busy five man block designed to control the center and provide width. Jurasik operates in the left central midfield role to help recycle possession and connect the defense to the attack. Osayi works in the right central midfield spot, providing energy to drive forward with the ball. Gedson occupies the left attacking midfield role to press aggressively and find space between the lines. The other three players in this bank must move as a single unit to deny the turn to opposition players and ensure the central areas remain compact.

The attacking front three focuses on directness and high pressure. Rafa leads the line as the striker, looking to find the feet of his teammates or make runs in behind the defense. The two wingers sit wide to stretch the defense, creating gaps for the midfielders to run into. When Besiktas wins the ball, they look to hit in behind on the transition, using the three attackers to pin the last defender. This setup creates many opportunities for one on one situations on the flanks.

This formation offers significant tactical advantages, particularly the ability to press high in coordinated waves. By flooding the midfield and attack, Besiktas creates numerical superiority in the final third. This makes it very difficult for opponents to play out from the back without making errors. The sheer number of players moving forward allows the team to create wide overloads and quickly switch play to the wings.

Besiktas uses this high risk formation to dictate the tempo of the game through relentless attacking pressure. It is a lineup best suited for matches where the team needs to break down a parked bus or face an opponent that struggles to play under pressure.
