Goretzka is a powerful runner who drives forward with the ball to link the lines. Stiller works to recycle possession and find teammates through the lines. This pair must protect the space between the midfield and the defense to stop counter attacks. They also need to pick up runners from deep to maintain control.

In the attacking phase, Germany uses two strikers and two wide players to stretch the defense. Florian Wirtz operates on the right wing and cuts inside to create chances, while Jamal Musiala moves from the left wing into central spaces. Kai Havertz and Nick Woltemade lead the line as a central partnership. Havertz often drops into the hole to connect play, while Woltemade can act as a physical presence to hold up the ball. This front four is designed to pin the last defender and create runs in behind.

This formation offers significant tactical advantages through its ability to press in high waves.
