On the flanks, BARRIOS and MERINO provide the necessary width. BARRIOS on the right and MERINO on the left must work to squeeze the space and cut off the passing lane to the opposition wingers. This midfield unit works to win it back high up the pitch to start attacks quickly.

Up front, Panama utilizes two forwards leading the line. CARDOZO plays as a pressing centre-forward to pin the last defender, while MORALES works as a second striker in the hole to link up play between the lines. The attack relies on the wingers to spread wide and pull the opposition defenders apart. This allows CARDOZO and MORALES to combine in tight spaces or for the wide players to get to the byline and whip it in. The movements are designed to create runs in behind and allow the strikers to attack the far post on crosses.

One major advantage for Panama is the ability to press in a mid-block to force a long ball from the opposition. The central pairing of MONTERO and BARRIOS provides numerical superiority in the middle of the pitch when they squeeze the space. Additionally, the team can quickly hit in behind on the transition by using the speed of CARDOZO and MORALES to exploit gaps in a high defensive line.
