Starting Lineup

VALGAEREN · BALDE´ · MJALLBY · LAMBERT · AGATHE · PETROV · LENNON · THOMPSON · LARSSON · SUTTON · DOUGLAS

Celtic focuses on a direct and heavy attacking presence using a 3-3-4 formation. This lineup aims to overwhelm the opposition with numbers in the final third and press high to win the ball back quickly. The goal is to use verticality to catch the defense off guard and create constant pressure in the opponent's half.

Douglas starts in goal to command the area and manage the defense. Behind the midfield, the back three consists of Valgaeren, Mjallby, and Balde´. Valgaeren acts as the right centre-back to cover the wide area, while Mjallby and Balde´ provide strength in the middle. This back three must stay compact and step up to maintain a high line, forcing the opposition into long balls.

The midfield functions with a three man midfield with a carrier to bridge the gap between the defense and the attack. Lambert sits in the center to shield the defense and recycle possession. Agathe and Thompson operate on the left and right of the middle, where they look to win the second ball and drive forward with the ball to support the front line. This unit works to compress the midfield and prevent the opposition from playing through the lines.

Celtic employs four attackers to stretch the defense constantly. Larsson and Sutton play as a two forwards in a partnership, where Larsson often looks to find the feet of the striker or make runs in behind. Lennon and Petrov act as wide wingers who stay high to provide width. Lennon stays wide to allow for overlaps, while Petrov looks to cut inside to create chances. The team builds the attack by moving the ball quickly to the wide areas or playing through the lines to the two central strikers.

A primary strength of this formation is the ability to press high in coordinated waves, making it difficult for opponents to build from the back. The presence of four attackers allows Celtic to pin the last defender and create numerical superiority in the attacking third. Additionally, the combination of Larsson and Sutton allows for effective link up play between the lines to break the opposition block.

This 3-3-4 formation is built for high intensity and relentless attacking pressure. It is best suited for games where Celtic needs to break down a deep defensive block through sheer numbers and verticality.
