In the final third, Preston utilizes two forwards in a partnership. Join and muik work together to stretch the defense by making runs in behind. Join often acts to hold up the ball, allowing the midfielders to join the attack. muik looks to find space between the lines to create goal scoring chances. The wing backs RB and Reeee provide width by getting to the byline to whip it in for the two strikers.

This lineup offers a high level of compactness when defending, making it difficult for opponents to find space between the lines. Preston also benefits from the speed of transition when Bey or the central defenders win the ball and immediately find Join or muik.
