Milinkovic Savic, known for his physical presence and ability to arrive late into the box, helps to win the second ball in the middle third. This pairing must work hard to cover the space left behind the advancing wing backs and ensure they do not get bypassed during transitions.

The attacking front line consists of three players designed to stretch the defense. Mitrović would typically lead, but here M. Leonardo operates as the lone striker to find the feet of the striker and hold up the ball. On the wings, Malcom acts as an inverted winger on the right to cut inside, while Neymar Junior occupies the left side to create chances. These attackers press from the front to force a long ball from the opposition. The goal is to create runs in behind and allow the wing backs to overlap the winger for crosses.

One major strength for Al-Hilal is the ability to create wide overloads when Cancelo and Al Harbi push high.
