Fluminense aims to control games through central density and quick ball movement in a 3-5-2. This formation relies on a high press to win the ball back and relies on a strong central presence to dictate the tempo of the match. The lineup is built to dominate the middle of the pitch and use vertical passing to reach the final third quickly.

Fábio plays between the posts to organize the back line. The defensive unit operates as a back three where T. Silva acts as the central figure to command the area and sweep behind the line. Ignácio plays as the right centre-back to cover the wide areas, while Freytes occupies the left centre-back spot. This three man unit remains compact to deny space between the lines and forces the opposition to play wide.

The midfield is the engine of Fluminense and utilizes a complex five man block. F. Bernal and M. Martinelli act as a double pivot to shield the defence and recycle possession. RENE and S. Xavier operate as the two central midfielders to drive the ball forward and connect the defensive and attacking units. Nonato plays as an attacking ten behind the strikers to find pockets of space and press from the front to trigger a press.

In the attacking phase, the team employs two forwards to stretch the opposition. G. Cano acts as the primary goal threat, using his movement to find space in the box, while J. Arias plays as a second striker to link play and create runs in behind. The attacking unit works in combinations to pull defenders out of position. They look to use the midfielders to spread wide and then cut back into the danger zone.

This formation provides significant tactical advantages through numerical superiority in the central areas. The presence of Nonato and the two central midfielders allows the team to outnumber opponents in the middle third. Additionally, the high press from the front three allows Fluminense to win the ball high up the pitch and attack before the opponent can settle.

The 3-5-2 formation provides Fluminense with a robust central core that is difficult to bypass. It is best suited for matches against teams that prefer to play through the middle or those that struggle to handle high pressing intensity.
