Livaja · Rebić · Šego · Sigur · Hrgović · Uremović · Krizmanić · Pukštas · Pajaziti · Žaper · Ivušić

Hajduk aims to play a vertical game that relies on quick transitions and high intensity. This goal is achieved through a 5-2-3 formation that looks to hurt teams on the break. By using wide areas and a heavy presence in the final third, Hajduk can stretch the opposition and create space for runners.

Ivušić guards the goal as the last line of defense. The defensive unit operates with a back five that can shift between a narrow block and a wider stance. Žaper leads the central defense, providing strength and winning headers in the air. Beside him, Krizmanić and Uremović act as the wider center backs to cover the spaces left when the wing backs push forward. Sigur operates as the right wing back to provide width, while Hrgović covers the left flank to help the back line. This defensive unit works to stay compact and deny space in the middle.

The midfield consists of a two man pairing that must manage the transition from defense to attack. Pajaziti and Pukštas act as the engine room, tasked with winning the second ball and driving the team forward. Pukštas is known for his technical ability and ability to find passes that break the line, while Pajaziti helps to shield the defense and protect the center backs. These two players connect the defensive unit to the front three, ensuring the team can recycle possession or launch a direct attack immediately after winning the ball.

In the attacking third, the team uses three attackers to pin the opposition back. Livaja acts as the central striker, often playing as a focal point to hold up the ball and link with the wide players. Rebić and Šego operate as wide attackers, with Rebić known for his high pressing intensity and ability to run in behind. The formation is designed to create many runs in behind the defense through quick combinations between the wingers and the striker. When the wing backs push up, they create overlaps to help the attackers isolate defenders in one on one situations.

One major advantage for Hajduk is the ability to counter at pace using the speed of the front three. The wide players and the wing backs can create wide overloads that force the opposition to defend deep. Another strength is the compactness of the back five, which makes it very difficult for opponents to find space between the lines when the team sits in a mid block.

This 5-2-3 formation provides Hajduk with a solid platform to defend and a lethal way to strike on the break. It is best suited for games against teams that commit many players forward and leave space behind their defense.
