David Raya operates between the posts to start the play from the back. The defensive unit functions with Zubimendi acting as the central figure in a back three to hold the line. Saliba and Gabriel occupy the right and left sides of this trio, with Saliba providing recovery pace and Gabriel offering aerial strength. Timber and Lewis-Skelly act as attacking wing backs, pushing high to provide width and stretch the defence. This allows the three central defenders to stay narrow and cover the space behind the midfield.

The midfield operates with a two man unit that must cover significant ground. Rice plays as the primary engine to shield the defence and win the second ball, while Ødegaard operates in the half spaces to create and connect the lines. Rice provides the physical presence to intercept passes, whereas Ødegaard uses his passing range to find the attackers. This pairing relies on quick shifts to prevent the opposition from playing through the middle.

Arsenal utilizes three attackers to pin the last defender and create chances. Gyökeres leads the line as a powerful centre forward who can hold up the ball and link up with his teammates. Saka and Martinelli act as wide attackers, with Saka often looking to cut inside and Martinelli using his pace to run in behind. The front three press in pairs to force a long ball from the opposition. This creates many opportunities for cutbacks from the byline or through balls into the channels.

A major advantage for Arsenal is the ability to create wide overloads when Timber and Lewis-Skelly push forward to support the wingers. The team also benefits from numerical superiority in the defensive third, making them very hard to break down through the middle. The ability to win it back high up the pitch allows them to catch opponents out of position during a quick transition.
