Eintracht Frankfurt Football Formation
Starting Lineup
TUTA · TOURÉ · NDICKA · KNAUFF · SOW · RODE · KOSTIC · LINDSTROM · KAMADA · BORRÉ · TRAPPEintracht Frankfurt seeks to dominate games through a high press and verticality in a 3-4-3 formation. This lineup is built to win the ball high up the pitch and quickly look to break the lines to catch the opposition out of position. The goal is to squeeze the space in the middle and use wide areas to stretch the defence.
Kevin Trapp starts in goal to command the area and sweep behind a high line when the team pushes up. The defensive unit operates with a back three consisting of Touré, Tuta, and Ndicka. Touré acts as a central presence to win the second ball, while Tuta and Ndicka provide cover and can step up to intercept passes. This trio works to maintain a compact shape and keep the defensive line high to support the midfield.
The midfield features a trio of players working to control the center of the pitch. Sow and Knauff operate as a double pivot to shield the defence and recycle possession when needed. Kostic plays as a left sided midfielder who can push forward to provide width, while Rode plays as an attacking ten behind the striker to connect the lines. Rode works to find the feet of the striker and pick up runners in the final third.
Eintracht Frankfurt uses three attackers to pin the last defender. Borré acts as a pressing centre-forward who works to hold up the ball and link play. Kamada plays as an inverted winger on the left to cut inside and create chances, while Lindstrom operates on the right to stretch the play. These forwards press the opposition back line intensely to force a long ball and win it back high up the pitch.
This formation offers significant advantages through its ability to press in coordinated waves. The presence of Sow and Knauff allows for numerical superiority in midfield during build up phases. Eintracht Frankfurt can also use the wide movements of Kostic and the wingers to create wide overloads and isolate defenders in one on one situations.
The 3-4-3 formation provides a strong platform for aggressive pressing and quick transitions. This lineup is best suited for games against teams that play with a high line and struggle to handle intense pressure.
