River focuses on a strong defensive base and quick transitions in a 5-2-3. This formation is built to defend deep and strike with pace when winning the ball. The lineup allows the team to stay compact while preparing to hit in behind the opposition.

Armani sits between the posts to organize the back line. The defense uses a back five consisting of L. Rivero, REFUERZO, and P. Diaz as the central unit. Montiel acts as an attacking wing back on the right, while Acuña plays as an attacking wing back on the left to provide width. L. Rivero and P. Diaz cover the channels while REFUERZO holds the center to win headers and clear the lines. This defensive unit can drop into a low block to deny space between the lines.

The midfield works as a double pivot with K. Castaño and Quintero. K. Castaño acts as the primary shield to protect the back five and win the second ball. Quintero uses his passing range to drop deep, receive the ball, and play through the lines to connect the defense to the front three. This pair must work hard to compress the midfield and stop runners from moving into the pocket. When the team wins the ball, Quintero looks to switch play immediately to the wide areas.

In the attacking phase, River uses three forwards to stretch the defense. Driussi works as the central striker, often holding up the ball to bring others into play. Colidio and Cepeda play as wide attackers, with Colidio looking to cut inside and Cepeda trying to get to the byline. The wingers press the opposition back line to force a long ball. This formation creates chances through quick combinations and runs in behind the defense.

A major strength is the ability to create wide overloads when Montiel and Acuña push high up the pitch. This forces the opposition to pull their wide players deep, which opens space in the middle. Another advantage is the speed of transition when the midfield wins the ball and finds the front three quickly. The compactness of the five defenders makes it very hard for opponents to find gaps in the central zone.

This 5-2-3 formation provides a heavy defensive presence combined with rapid attacking movement. It is best suited for matches against teams that dominate possession and require a disciplined counter attacking response.
