Starting Lineup

Mbappe · Vinicius · Bellingham · Arda · Valverde · Tchoumeni · Asencio · Rudiger · F.Garcia · Trent · Courtois

Real Madrid prefers a high press and rapid transitions using a 3-4-3 formation. This lineup is built to overwhelm opponents in the final third by utilizing aggressive pressing and heavy verticality. The goal is to win the ball high up the pitch and move forward with speed to exploit space before the opposition can settle.

Thibaut Courtois starts in goal to command the area and sweep behind a high line. The back three consists of Rudiger, Tchoumeni, and Asencio. Rudiger acts as a dominant force in the air and a primary leader in the defensive unit. Tchoumeni provides cover and steps into midfield to disrupt play, while Asencio helps maintain the width of the defensive block. This back three functions to hold the line and secure the central zones while allowing the wider players to push higher.

The midfield operates with two central players and two wide players to manage the pitch. Arda and Bellingham form a central pairing where Bellingham uses his driving runs to carry the ball forward. Bellingham acts as a connector between the lines, while Arda works to win the second ball in the middle. On the flanks, Trent and F.Garcia provide the width. Trent functions as an attacking wing back to deliver crosses, while F.Garcia tracks back to ensure defensive cover when the team loses possession.

The attacking front line uses three players to stretch the defence. Mbappe acts as the central striker, using his pace to make runs in behind the opposition defence. Vinicius plays as an inverted winger on the left, cutting inside to create goal scoring chances. On the right, Valverde operates as an inverted winger who can also drop deep to support the midfield. This trio works in combinations to break the line through quick passing and direct movement.

One major advantage for Real Madrid is the ability to create wide overloads through the movements of Trent and Valverde. The team also finds success through the speed of transition, moving the ball from Courtois to Mbappe in very few passes. This setup allows for high pressing in coordinated waves, making it difficult for opponents to play out from the back.

This 3-4-3 formation relies on intense pressing and lightning fast attacks. It is best suited for games against teams that struggle to manage high intensity and leave large spaces behind their defensive line.
