Starting Lineup

Trent · Bellingham · Mastantuono · Tchouameni · Valverde · Konate · Gonzalo · Huijsen · Guler · Courtois · Bisseck

Real Madrid aims to control the tempo through a high press and quick verticality in a 3-4-3. This lineup is built to dominate the middle of the pitch and use the width of the pitch to stretch the opponent. The team looks to win the ball high up the pitch and drive forward immediately to catch the opposition out of position.

Thibaut Courtois acts as the last line of defense, providing massive presence in the goal. The back three consists of Konate, Bisseck, and Huijsen. Konate acts as the central defender to win the header and command the area, while Bisseck and Huijsen cover the sides of the back three. This unit can play out from the back to start attacks. They work together to maintain a high line and squeeze the space when the team presses.

The midfield functions as a central block where Tchouameni provides a shield for the defense. As a deep lying playmaker, Tchouameni works to intercept passes and recycle possession. Guler plays more advanced in the half spaces to connect the defense to the attack. On the flanks, Trent and Valverde provide the width. Trent operates as an attacking wing back on the right to whip it in, while Valverde uses his incredible engine to cover the entire left flank and press aggressively.

The attacking trio features Bellingham and Mastantuono on the wings with Gonzalo acting as the lone striker. Bellingham plays as an inverted winger on the left, often cutting inside to find space in the box. Mastantuono provides width on the right before looking to play through the lines. Gonzalo serves as the central point to hold up the ball and pin the last defender. The front three press in pairs from the front to force a long ball from the opposition.

Real Madrid finds strength in the wide overloads created by Trent and Valverde. This formation allows for numerical superiority in the middle when Guler and Tchouameni control the central zones. The team also benefits from a high press in coordinated waves, making it very difficult for opponents to play out from the back.

This 3-4-3 formation focuses on heavy pressing and rapid transitions to punish mistakes. It is best suited for games where the team needs to dominate possession and use wide areas to break down a low block.
