Tottenham Football Formation
Starting Lineup
Romero · van de Ven · Danso · Udogie · Porro · Sarr · Bentancur · Solanke · Kulusevski · Maddison · VicarioTottenham focuses on high pressing and rapid transitions using a 3-4-3 formation. This lineup is built to win the ball back high up the pitch and attack the opposition with high intensity. The goal is to squeeze the space and use the width of the pitch to stretch the defence.
Vicario plays between the posts to anchor the defensive unit. The back line functions as a back three where Romero acts as a dominant presence in the air and a leader in the central spot. Danso operates as the right centre-back to provide cover, while van de Ven plays as the left centre-back to use his recovery speed to sweep behind a high line. This trio works to defend zonally and protect the space behind when the team pushes up.
The midfield works as a central block with a two man engine room. Bentancur shields the defence and helps to recycle possession, while Sarr drives forward with the ball to connect the lines. On the flanks, Porro and Udogie act as attacking wing backs who push high to provide width. Porro overlaps the winger to deliver crosses, while Udogie carries the ball forward to create overloads in the wide areas.
Tottenham uses three attackers to pin the last defender. Solanke acts as a pressing centre-forward who holds up the ball and fights for second balls. On the wings, Maddison plays as an inverted winger on the right to cut inside and create, while Kulusevski plays on the left to pull wide and drive at the defence. These forwards press the opposition back line to force a long ball and create chances through combinations in tight spaces.
This formation offers significant tactical advantages through wide overloads when Porro and Udogie move forward. Tottenham also gains numerical superiority in the attacking third by pushing the wing backs high. The ability to press in coordinated waves allows the team to win the ball high up the pitch and break quickly.
The 3-4-3 formation provides a heavy offensive presence that relies on high energy. It is best suited for games against teams that play a high line and can be caught on the transition.
