Because the team pushes so far forward, Zaldivia and Calderón often have to defend in one on one situations and must be ready to sweep behind the line if the opponent attempts to hit in behind on the transition.

The midfield consists of a central pairing supported by two wide players. aránguiz and Altamirano work in the middle to connect the defense to the attack. aránguiz is known for his intense work rate and his ability to use his passing range to break the line. Sepúlveda and hormazábal occupy the wide areas to provide width and help to press the opposition. They must track back to help the defenders while also being ready to carry the ball forward to support the attack.

The front line relies on four players to pin the opposition back. Assadi and de yorio operate as a central strike partnership. They look to find the feet of the striker or make runs in behind to score. On the flanks, Fernández and guerrero act as wide attackers to stretch the defence. Fernández often cuts inside to create central threats while guerrero works to get to the byline and deliver a cross. This front line is tasked to press from the front to force a long ball.

This formation provides significant tactical advantages, particularly numerical superiority in the final third. By deploying four attackers, Universidad de Chile can pin the last defender and create chaos in the box. Another strength is the ability to press in coordinated waves.
